The Allee Willis Foundation Rocks the Modern Band Summit

Every summer, music educators from across the country gather in Fort Collins, Colorado, for the Modern Band Summit. Hosted by Music Will, this professional development event gives teachers hands-on opportunities to explore popular music pedagogy and modern band practices.

This year, The Allee Willis Foundation was proud to host our Creative Music-Making Workshop for 20 new Musical Wonders teachers. Each participating teacher also received a Zip-Kit for their classroom, giving them practical tools to continue exploring creative music-making with their students.

We also presented a second workshop, Drum Patterns for Non-Drummers, where dozens of participants got behind a drum set and learned simple, classroom-tested patterns and teaching strategies. Having multiple Zip-Kits available made it possible for many educators to play and learn at the same time, creating an accessible and supportive environment for teachers who may have had little or no previous drumming experience.

We always have an amazing time at the Modern Band Summit and were thrilled to once again partner with Music Will and contribute to a conference that builds so much community across the music education landscape.
